OTAP 1120 - Therapeutic Mediums Lab

Credit hours: 1 3 lab hours

Prerequisites: OTAP 1210, OTAP 1320, OTAP 1220, OTAP 1340, or by permission of instructor

Course Description:
This course will provide practice skill in activity analysis with the therapeutic use of technology, manual arts, media, and activity (occupation). The course addresses awareness of activity demands, contexts, adapting, grading, and safe implementation of occupations or activities. Therapeutic occupations will be approached using occupational therapy terminology from the Practice Framework Domain and Process.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to:

Demonstrate task analysis in areas of occupation, performance skills, performance patterns, activity demands, context(s) and environments, and client factors to implement the intervention plan.
Provide development, remediation, and compensation for physical, mental, cognitive, perceptual, neuromuscular, behavioral skills, and sensory functions (e.g., vision, tactile, auditory, gustatory, olfactory, pain, temperature, pressure, vestibular, proprioception).
Demonstrate therapeutic use of self, including one’s personality, insights, perceptions, and judgments, as part of the therapeutic process in both individual and group interaction.
Implement intervention strategies to remediate and/or compensate for cognitive deficits that affect occupational performance.
Collaborate and implement the teaching-learning process.
