IEM 4020 - Electrical Mechanical Maintenance

Course Description:
Provides instruction on mechanical systems with integrated electrical control. Troubleshooting, adjustment of mechanical systems, adjustment of sensors and preventive maintenance are stressed. 

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion student will understand and be able to apply the principles of:

  1. Belt, Pulley, Sprocket, Chain, and Gear Drive Component Alignment and Adjustment
  2. Install and Connect AC and DC Motors and Align Components After Replacement
  3. Communicate With the System PLC and Monitor the Functioning of the Inputs and Outputs
  4. Trace and document wiring from PLC to input and output devices
  5. Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Motors
  6. Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Various Optical Sensors
  7.  Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Various Inductive and Capacitive Proximity Sensors
  8. Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Safety Interlock Devices and Safety Relays.
  9. Install, Connect, Troubleshoot, or Replace Sensors.
