IEM 4020 - Electrical Mechanical Maintenance

Course Description: Provides instruction on mechanical systems with integrated electrical control. Troubleshooting, adjustment of mechanical systems, adjustment of sensors and preventive maintenance are stressed.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion student will understand and be able to apply the principles of:
- Belt, Pulley, Sprocket, Chain, and Gear Drive Component Alignment and Adjustment
- Install and Connect AC and DC Motors and Align Components After Replacement
- Communicate With the System PLC and Monitor the Functioning of the Inputs and Outputs
- Trace and document wiring from PLC to input and output devices
- Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Motors
- Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Various Optical Sensors
- Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Various Inductive and Capacitive Proximity Sensors
- Measure and Identify Electrical Properties of Safety Interlock Devices and Safety Relays.
- Install, Connect, Troubleshoot, or Replace Sensors.
