IMA 1061 - AC/DC Voltages

Course Description:
Study of ac voltages and currents, ac sine wave and generation, frequency and different qualities of ac voltages and currents compared to dc voltages and currents. Provides instruction in the characteristics of alternating current in electrical circuits and defines terms used in AC circuits. Instruction is provided through lecture, videos, worksheets, demonstration and hands-on exercises.

  2. Solve for values of peak voltage, rms voltage, and dc average voltage in ac sine wave problems.
  3. Recognize values of time and frequency in ac circuits.
  4. Recognize magnetism in ac voltages and currents.
  5. Define inductance and inductive reactance. Solve inductive reactance problems in AC circuits.
  6. Define capacitance and capacitive reactance. Solve inductive reactance problems in AC circuits
  7. Solve inductive reactance and resistance problems in AC circuits.
  8. Solve capacitive reactance and resistance problems in AC circuits.
  9. Solve impedance problems in AC circuits.
