Course Description:
Provides instruction in operation, connection and control of DC motors, single phase AC motors and three phase AC motors. Instruction is also provided in devices and sensors used in motor control circuits. Instruction is provided through lecture, videos, demonstration and hands-on exercises.

  2. Identify and wire limit switches used in motor control circuits.
  3. Identify and wire sensors used in motor control circuits.
  4. Explain how a capacitance sensor operates and what it detects.
  5. Explain how an inductive sensor operates and what it detects.
  6. Size motor disconnecting means, conductors and overloads used in motor control.
  7. Wire and operate a NC and NO selector switch.
  8. Wire and operate an AC relay using momentary contact switches and switch pilot lights thru NC and NO contacts.
  9. Wire and operate a DC relay using momentary contact switches.
  10. Wire and operate a latch/unlatch relay using momentary contact switches and switch pilot lights thru NC and NO contacts.
  11. Wire and operate a timer using momentary contact switches and switch pilot lights thru NC and NO contacts and timing periods.
  12. Wire and operate TON and TOF timing relays using momentary contact switches and switch pilot lights thru NCTO, NOTC, NCTC and NOTO  contacts.
  13. Wire and operate a timer using momentary contact switches and switch pilot lights thru NC and NO contacts and timing periods.
  14. Wire and operate a three wire motor circuit using momentary contact switches.
  15. Wire and operate a motor from two locations using a three wire control circuit using momentary contact switches.
  16. Wire and operate a five wire motor circuit using momentary contact switches.
  17. Operate a forward and reverse motor starter using inter-locking pushbuttons.
  18. Wire and operate DC solid state drive and operate DC motor.
  19. Wire, set parameters and operate a three phase motor with a VFD.
