MUS 2031 - Music Performance Skills

Course Description:
This course is designed to prepare the musician, actor and dancer for an audition and other performances. Topics will include how to prepare for an audition or performance, selecting material, appropriate attire, effective performance skills, and getting the most out of the audition process.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to:

Create a practice environment by defining practice, planning and scheduling rehearsal time;
Understand the essentials of artistic interpretation; mental imagery, warm-ups and vocal care;
Choose material for the audition;
Understand the psychological and physiological aspects of the performance;
Attain memorization concepts and strategies;
Understand attributes of professionalism, artistic collaborations and becoming a performing artist
