METC 1370 - Elements of Material Science
Credit hours: 3
Course Description: Study of the physical structure of engineering materials and how their properties are dependent upon their internal structure; crystal structures, phase relationships, mechanical behavior of solids, and polymer and composite characteristics.
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:
Competency 1: List and define nine material properties.
Competency 2: Name and compare the three primary lattice structures of ferrous materials.
Competency 3: Describe the behavior of thermoset and thermoformed plastics and give an example product for each.
