Course Description:
This course is an overview of the fundamental principles of agriculture which prepares students to understand agriculture technology. This course introduces students to basic skills and knowledge in construction and land management, agriculture mechanics, irrigation and drainage, and agriculture business.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

Gather and analyze information from multiple authoritative sources, such as the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, United States Department of Agriculture website and Tennessee labor data, to summarize the economic impact of the agricultural industry.
Describe and explain the basic concepts of agriculture technology.
Relate the fundamentals of agriculture technology to agriculture and the agri-business industry.
Describe the interrelationship between agriculture and the environment.
Relate the role of agriculture to the Tennessee economy.
Understand the different facets of the agriculture industry.
An overview of basic skills and knowledge in agricultural mechanics and construction.
