WELD 2370 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding

Prerequisites: WELD 1381 - Principles of Welding  

Course Description:
Shielded Metal Arc Welding emphasized by the making of fillet and groove welds in all positons with the SMAW process.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to:

  1. Successfully pass the AWS D1.1 Plate certification for SMAW limited thickness.
  2. Set-up and operate SMAW welding equipment.
  3. Demonstrate use of different electrodes.
