Program Description:

The Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) in Administrative Professional Technology prepares individuals for employment in today’s dynamic workplace environment. Graduates will be equipped to adapt to the continual change that evolving technology demands.

Program Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate skill development in software applications.
  2. Perform electronic and routine office procedures.
  3. Prepare documents pertinent to an office environment.
  4. Explain proper management protocol for office files.
  5. Demonstrate use of specialty vocabulary through effective office communication.
  6. Develop decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Business Office Concentration

The Business Office concentration is a course of study designed to teach the skill set required of the administrative professional in today’s business office environment. Courses are designed to ensure expertise in current office procedures, software applications, editing and proofreading, critical thinking,office management, and interpersonal skills. Career opportunities include receptionist, office manager, administrative assistant, or executive assistant.

  • Medical Office Concentration

The Medical Office concentration prepares individuals for a variety of positions in today’s medical office environment, such as medical receptionists, medical records clerks, hospital ward clerks, medical insurance clerks, patient account representatives, medical transcriptionists, medical administrative assistants, and physician or hospital coders. The program provides the opportunity for skill development in the areas of software applications, office procedures, electronic health records, medical information management, communications, transcription, and coding.

  • Legal Office Concentration

The Legal Office Concentration prepares individuals for employment as secretaries, office managers, or administrative assistants in law enforcement offices, courts, or legal offices. The program provides the opportunity for skill development in the areas of software applications, electronic and routine office procedures, records management, law office management, legal document processing, communications, legal terminology, and transcription.

  • Office Innovations Concentration

The Office Innovations Concentration focuses on advanced technology and business practices useful in today’s offices.  Students learn new techniques and trends to effectively perform and adapt to an increasingly competitive technological environment.
