Program Description:

The Electromechanical Technology A.A.S. prepares students for careers in manufacturing companies as multi-craft, industrial facility, machinery maintenance, and repair technicians.  The curriculum integrates electrical and mechanical elements, including print reading, fluid power applications, mechanical power transmission, industrial electricity, AC and DC motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).  In addition, courses place emphasis on safety, teamwork, communication skills, and efficient work practices as well as critical thinking skills for inquiry and analysis, assimilation of facts and knowledge, and problem solving.

This is a technical degree designed for immediate employment in advanced manufacturing and is not designed for transfer although some 4-year institutions may accept part of the coursework toward the bachelor degree.

Program Outcomes:

  1. Identify, analyze, install, and troubleshoot electronic circuit parameters for the operation and control of general electrical components, motors, alternators, generators, and transformers.
  2. Calculate and measure electrical parameters using test instruments and troubleshoot common electrical problems likely to be encountered in a typical DC or AC circuit.
  3. Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial control systems.
  4. The ability to demonstrate and adhere to industry standard safety practices
  5. Upon completion of the program, all students will demonstrate effective communication and presentation techniques, as well as critical thinking skills for inquiry and analysis, assimilation of facts and knowledge, and problem solving.
