Program Description: 

The Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) in Entrepreneurship will provide a state-wide option for TCAT graduates of Cosmetology, HVAC, Building Construction Technology, Barbering, Aesthetics, etc. to obtain PLA for work in the field (when applicable) and continue their studies to learn more about starting and running their own business. This program will also be available to all students.

 

Program Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

  1. Develop information technology and communication literacy skills.
  2. Learn initiative, self-direction, productivity and accountability skills that are necessary to maintain their own business.
  3. Prepare financial statements, budgets, and other documents necessary to track and measure a business’s well-being.
  4. Develop broad market understanding and purchasing, sales and service skills to effectively obtain and maintain market share.
  5. Develop decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  6. Obtain practical experience through the project capstone course or an experiential learning practicum.

Internship: The internship is optional and institutions can use any business-related coding: ADMN, BUSN, ACCT, etc. Each institution is responsible for determining the exact length and requirements of the internship, but it should provide students with an opportunity to learn from an experienced entrepreneur and the student should demonstrate this learning with a project or portfolio demonstration near the end of the internship.
