Program Description:

The Massage Therapy program prepares graduates to practice in a wide variety of settings, including resorts, health clubs, physical therapy offices, sports injury clinics, and even in private homes/offices. Massage therapists may operate a private business or work under the supervision of other health care providers. The program prepares graduates for both full-time and part-time work in this career field. 

Program Outcomes:

Students will:

  1. Identify basic elements of normal physiology for each system of the human body, as well as recognize basic pharmacology related to massage practices;
  2. Learn the techniques of Swedish massage, and will develop skillful pressure, pacing and sequencing in the application of these techniques through extensive hands-on practices; 
  3. Establish and maintain safe and respectful boundaries with clients; 
  4. Identify and design effective methods for time management, client scheduling, and maintenance of the work environment.

Students must successfully complete the curriculum components of the Massage Therapy program at their institution before being eligible to take the certification exam: Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx).
