Program Description:
The Massage Therapy program prepares graduates to practice in a wide variety of settings, including resorts, health clubs, physical therapy offices, sports injury clinics, and even in private homes/offices. Massage therapists may operate a private business or work under the supervision of other health care providers. The program prepares graduates for both full-time and part-time work in this career field.
Program Outcomes:
Students will:
- Identify basic elements of normal physiology for each system of the human body, as well as recognize basic pharmacology related to massage practices;
- Learn the techniques of Swedish massage, and will develop skillful pressure, pacing and sequencing in the application of these techniques through extensive hands-on practices;
- Establish and maintain safe and respectful boundaries with clients;
- Identify and design effective methods for time management, client scheduling, and maintenance of the work environment.
