Course Description: Power Plant Fundamentals I is the study of Aircraft Power Plants, which are of either the reciprocating (piston) or turbine type. After an introductory chapter tracing the development of the aircraft power plant, The FAA Aviation Maintenance Textbook introduces the student to the reciprocating engine covering step-by-step, hands-on procedures for reciprocating engine inspection, troubleshooting and repair.
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- Inspect and repair a radial engine.
- Overhaul reciprocating engine.
- Inspect, check, service, and repair reciprocating engines and engine installations.
- Install, troubleshoot, and remove reciprocating engines.
