ELS 1050 - Disorders, Diseases, and Allergies of the Eye Area

Clock Hours: 20

Delivery Mode
on-ground

Course Description:
Responsible eyelash technicians must understand and be able to recognize the types of eyelids, eyelash, and eyebrow disorders and diseases they may encounter. These disorders are very often contraindications for eyelash and/or eyebrow services, and to work on many of them is to risk spreading a contagious disease to yourself and others. Allergies are another contraindication that you will need to screen and test before providing services. Although sensitivities can be a contraindication as well, it is important to consider the role that sensitization can have on the longevity of your career as an eyelash technician. Eyelash technicians should study and have a thorough understanding of disorders, diseases, and allergies of the eye area because

 • Providing eyelash extension services requires an understanding of the eye’s structure and common eye-related problems, including potentially contagious disorders and diseases.

 • Allergies and sensitivities are common contraindications for eyelash and eyebrow services that should be screened for and patch-tested against prior to performing a service.

 • Being able to identify an unexpected adverse reaction early in a service is an important step in responding swiftly and appropriately.
