ELS 1100 - Building an Eyelash Business

Course Description:
As you continue to sharpen your technical skills, it’s high time to think about your coming journey as a professional eyelash technician. It is not realistic to think you will be a celebrity lash artist right off the bat. However, building your clientele and perfecting your skillset is a step in the right direction. Be patient with yourself and your new skills. Success and confidence take time. It is important to take the necessary steps to run your lash business to maximize your income and set expectations that can be maintained throughout your career. This includes maintaining your professional image and brand, choosing the products that best fit your clients’ needs, setting (and raising) your prices appropriately, and marketing yourself whenever and wherever possible. Eyelash technicians should study and have a thorough understanding of the business of eyelashes because:  

• Your professional image is integral to how clients perceive your brand and colors their expectations of your skills and services. Your image is your best advertisement; make it a great one!  

• Conducting business ethically, including communicating openly and honestly, should be a cornerstone of your eyelash career from the outset.  

• You should feel supported and inspired by the products you choose to work with and retail. It is much easier to sell a product that you can talk about with enthusiasm and conviction.  

• Marketing, especially viral marketing using social media, will be a major factor in your business’s success or failure. What good are your amazing skills and boundless talents if nobody knows about them?
