EST 1010 - Safety Orientation I

Course Description:
This course provides the student with a foundational understanding of safety practices and regulations in an industrial workplace.  Included in the course content is workplace safety requirements, common causes of electrical and general workplace accidents, and a deeper examination of the role OSHA and federal and state agencies play in regulating workplace safety. 

 

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate understanding of basic workplace safety requirements. 

  1. Demonstrate the proper use of PPE in an industrial work setting. 

  1. Identify and apply essential shop safety procedures. 

  1. Utilize basic lock out and tag out procedures as applied in the workplace. 

  1. Apply appropriate first-aid procedures in emergency situations. 

  1. Explain the basic principles of general industry safety.
