Course Description:
This course provides students with instruction on the design and installation of HVAC systems.  

Student Learning Outcomes:
Safety  

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of HVAC related safety issues  

System Design  

  1. Discuss the components of a duct system 

  1. Discuss duct installation including using the proper registers and grills.  

  1. Discuss rules of thumb in sizing duct systems and using a ductulator 

  1. Discuss rules of thumb for equipment selection 

  1. Discuss the importance of using manual j for equipment selection 

  1. Discuss the importance of manual D for duct design 

Installation Procedures  

  1. Discuss code requirements  

  1. Discuss electrical wiring installation.  

  1. Discuss unit placement.  

  1. Discuss piping practices.  

  1. Discuss unit start up and testing.
