IEM 5010 - RSLogix 5000 (Advanced)

Prerequisites: IEM 4030
Course Description: Provides instruction utilizing what the student has previously learned about PLCs and applies these principles to the RSLogix 5000 software and PLC hardware framework. The student will learn about additional features and communications networking with this advanced hardware and software combination.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion the student will understand and have the ability to apply the principles of:
- Industrial networks, PC to PLC connections, and controller operation.
- Program Operation, PLC programming languages, PLC memory organization
- Project creation and organization, programming software, program analysis, and program documentation
- PLC motor control basics, seal-in program logic, data types and user defined tags, interlock functions, and VFD programming
- PLC timer and counter instructions, non-retentive and retentive timer instructions, time-driven sequencing, and counter instructions
- Event sequencing and continuous cycle logic, modes of operation, stop functions, and on/off process control
- Program initialization, subroutines, jump and label instructions
- Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and move instructions
- PanelView Plus application editing, FactoryTalk, View Studio machine edition, tags and communication, application displays, and input / output instructions
- Analog inputs, sensors, analog input configuration, scaling functions, comparison functions and on/off control
- Analog outputs, configuration and operation, scaling functions and VFDs
- Variable Output applications. PWM temperature control, stepper motors, absolute and relative modes
