Course Description:
This class covers the functions and characteristics of the different components of an industrial robot. Fanuc Robotic Operation and Handling Applications are used.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to:

  2. Describe the components of a robot’s power supply.
  3. Describe hydraulic drives.
  4. Distinguish between pneumatic drives and electric drives.
  5. Describe servomotors and encoders.
  6. Describe a robot’s controller and cabinet.
  7. Describe the teach pendant.
  8. Describe the axis control module.
  9. Describe sensors for robots.
  10. Describe the parts of a robotic arm.
  11. Describe the degrees of freedom of a robotic arm.
  12. Describe the end-effectors of a robotic arm.
  13. Describe grippers.
  14. Distinguish between the different types of grippers.
  15. Describe safeguarding systems for robots.
