Course Description:
The goal of the course is to teach the student how to operate, install, and troubleshoot motor control systems for various industrial applications using real-world components and schematics.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Perform a lockout/tagout procedure
Describe electrical motors (i.e., single phase, three phase, squirrel cage, synchronous, etc.)
Draw motor control circuits using ladder relay logic
Learn and incorporate proper electrical symbols in circuits
Incorporate different switches used in motor control circuits (Temperature, Proximity, Photo, etc.)
Demonstrate the operation of different type sensors
Develop a wiring diagram for single and three-phase motor starting
Learn different starting methods for various size motors (across-the-line, resistor, delta-wye, auto-transformer, etc.)
Learn different braking systems for various size motors
