Course Description: Students are given training to achieve an HVAC Mechanical Helper certificate.

- Recognize the differences between high-, medium-, and low-temperature refrigeration
F. Metering Devices Used in Various Applications
- Understand the three most popular types of expansion devices and their operating characteristics
G. Refrigerant Recovery Techniques
- Identify recovery tanks by color, DOT codes, date codes, and weight requirements
H. Pressure/Temperature Relations
- Develop practical skills with pressure temperature charts
- Understand gauge interpretations regarding all refrigerants
I. Various Types of Systems
- Understand proper heat transfer
J. Tools and Equipment
- Identify the tools and equipment needed
- Demonstrate proper use and care for this equipment
K. Leaks and Repairs
- Understand how to identify leaks and make proper repairs
