Under the supervision of the instructor / preceptor, the student shall have satisfactorily demonstrated the following skills including but not limited to:

  1. Identify the patient
  2. Confirm doctor’s order
  3. Site selection
  4. Tourniquet application
  5. Equipment selection
  6. Cleansing technique
  7. Demonstrate proper use of
    1. Syringe
    2. Butterfly
    3. Evacuated collection system (i.e. vacutainer)
    4. Microtainer
    5. Lancet
    6. Perform venipuncture
    7. Perform dermal puncture
    8. Specimen labeling
    9. Post care
