CRMJ 1020 - Introduction to the Legal Process (TTP)

Course Description: This course reviews basic laws governing the maintenance of a democratic society and how criminal and constitutional laws meet the challenge of American society.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Distinguish the differences between local, state, and federal court systems and describe the roles of those involved in the American legal system.
- Examine the laws pertaining to the American legal system, emphasizing the importance of the adversary system in the legal process, including trial and sentencing.
- Analyze how the various laws protect the individual and individual’s rights as an American citizen.
- Cite and describe the steps in a court trial.
