METC 2245 - Ground Sourced HVAC

Prerequisites: METC 1340 - HVAC I: Intro to HVAC/Refrigeration HVAC 1 or Permission of Instructor
Course Description: This course addresses closed loop and open loop designs, residential usage of ground source heat pumps, trenching vs. well-drilling, ground loop requirements, manual J load analysis to size the ground source service, and de-superheater add-on hot water elements.

Competency 1: Compare and contrast ground-sourced heat pumps with other heat pump and HVAC equipment designs.
Competency 2: Describe open and closed loop designs.
Competency 3: Describe residential applications and installations.
