CIVT 2623 - Concrete Testing
Credit hours: 3
Course Description: This course introduces the student to fundamentals of mix design and the inspection concerned with the manufacture and testing of concrete as a construction material. The following topics are covered: basic properties of cement and the relationships between cement, water and aggregates; properties desired in plastic and hardened concrete; proportioning mixes; sampling, and field and lab testing.
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- Understand the properties of concrete and correct proportions of materials for specified concrete mixes, sand, and gravel
- Understand laboratory techniques for testing materials
- Conduct, analyze, interpret and report lab data
