Course Description:
This course is designed to provide students the knowledge and understanding of how to establish and improve pastures. Students will learn to evaluate pastures, take soil samples, basic soil fertility, increase forage growth, and how to identify forages, weeds, and toxic plants.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

Show competency in soil fertility by addressing plants’ nutritive needs based on soil sampling.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of forage crop resources adaptation, establishment, management and utilization.
Describe and explain selection of an appropriate crop species based on intended use.
