Program Description:
The Computer Information Systems program is designed to provide training in computer operations that meet the occupational needs of local business and industry in computer related areas. The CIS program provides students with first-hand knowledge of the hardware, software, and operations of personal computers used in business and industry today. The program consists of a combination of job simulated projects and actual campus IT work which provides the student with true “hands-on” learning experience.
Program Outcomes:
At the completion of the diploma in Computer Information Systems program, graduates will be able to:
- Students graduating with Computer User Support Specialist diploma will be able to setup, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laptops, pc’s, mobile devices, and network equipment. They will be able to provide technical assistance to computer users and answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone, or electronically. They will be able to provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.
- Students graduating with the Web Developer diploma will be able to develop and implement websites, web applications, application databases, and interactive web interfaces. They will be able to evaluate code to ensure that it is compatible with browsers and devices, along with being able to optimize website performance, scalability, and server-side code and processes.
