ENST 2343 - CNC & Automation
Credit hours: 3
Course Description: This course is based on the CNC Milling machine using 3-axis programs and applications. An integrated systems approach is used to identify and distinguish mechanical work systems, sensor and feedback systems, and software-based inputs and outputs. Computer-assisted methods will be taught with particular emphasis placed on projects to enhance hands-on operational experience. The course will include such topics as basic codes, post-processing, and the troubleshooting of machine tool error codes (system & program faults).
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- Evaluate machining process during cutting operations to determine the sequence of operations.
- Develop a working knowledge of machine tool codes using MDI methods to demonstrate the integration of subsystems to perform work.
- Demonstrate troubleshooting of machine tool error codes (to identify and isolate system faults from program faults.
