NRSG 2320 - Health Assessment
Credit hours: 3 (2 lecture/1 lab)
Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing Program or Permission of Dean/Director.
Corequisites: Permission of Dean/Director
Course Description: This course will provide students with a foundation in basic health assessment of clients across the lifespan. Emphasis is on development of nursing skills from simple to complex including a health history and comprehensive physical examination. Students compile a health history which includes an assessment of cultural values, health beliefs, and caring practices. Students practice the procedural steps of a comprehensive health assessment in a supervised laboratory setting.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to meet the eight (8) core competencies as evidenced by:
- Professional Behavior: Demonstrate ethical, legal and regulatory frameworks of nursing and standards of professional nursing practice.
