MECH 1320 - Mechanical Components & Electric Motors

Course Description:
A study of the basic mechanical components and electrical drives in a mechatronics system. Topics include basic functions and physical properties of mechanical components and electrical AC and DC drives.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate the ability to:
- Explain differences between types of AC and DC motors.
- Analyze energy, forces, speeds, torque, and power for mechanical drives such as gears, belt drives, chain drives, and timing drives.
- Explain and apply safety rules while working on mechanical components.
