Course Description:
Having a thorough understanding of infection control principles and practices is necessary when dealing with the public and coming into daily direct contact with clients. Practicing the basics of cleaning and disinfecting and following federal and state rules will safeguard your health as well as the health of your clients. Eyelash technicians should study and have a thorough understanding of client safety and infection control because: 

 • As an eyelash technician you will have daily contact with your client’s skin and eyes, both important avenues of infection. 

 • Knowledge of products and practices to prevent the spread of infection will ensure a safe work environment for the technician and the client. 

 • You must understand and practice techniques to prevent and control exposure to not only blood but also other potentially infectious materials to protect your health and the health of your clients. 

Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of:  

 

1 Explain why eyelash technicians need to understand client safety and infection control.  

2. Review the basics of infection control. 

3. Employ proper hand washing technique.  

4. Demonstrate effective disinfection of tools and work surfaces.  

5. Follow exposure protocols to protect yourself and clients.
