Course Description:
Focuses on the common causes of workplace accidents and injuries, the role of OSHA and other federal and state agencies in regulating safety, and workplace safety initiatives. Accident and Injury prevention through risk mitigation methodology currently implemented in industry. Understanding safety principles of common industrial maintenance tools and devices.  

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explain the importance of Personal Protective Equipment. 

  1. Demonstrate the lockout procedure. 

  1. List several general electrical safety practices. 

  1. Describe the proper use of safety belts, scaffolds, and ladders. 

  1. Discuss classifications of personal protective equipment. 

  1. Perform job safety analysis and identify risks and hazards associated with maintenance tasks. 

  1. Understand usage and safety of common electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical hand tools.
