Course Description: This course provides the student with a foundational understanding of safety practices and regulations in an industrial workplace. Included in the course content is workplace safety requirements, common causes of electrical and general workplace accidents, and a deeper examination of safety protocols for machine tooling in an industrial work setting. Instructional content comes from the Tooling U learning management systems as recognized by the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.
Student Learning Outcomes:

Demonstrate equipment safety procedures for the industrial maintenance workplace.

Identify potential hazards and apply appropriate safety procedures.

Utilize basic lock out and tag out procedures as applied in the workplace.

Apply appropriate first-aid procedures in emergency situations.

Prepare fire prevention plans, including emergency exit procedures in an industrial setting.

Demonstrate knowledge of electrical, gas and water shutoff valves necessary for emergency planning.
