WTRQ 2390 - Capstone
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: Must be taken in the final semester and with consent of program coordinator.
Course Description: This course provides a platform for students to apply required skills and knowledge to complete a multi-faceted project relative to the field of study. This course includes required field experience at local drinking water or wastewater treatment facility.
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- Prepare a comprehensive technical report based on individual and collaborative effort.
- Prepare an oral presentation using presentation software through individual and collaborative effort.
- Deliver an oral presentation using effective speech techniques.
- Use library and internet research to plan, develop, and analyze a team-based project.
- Use and synthesize theory, laws, procedures, techniques, and psychomotor skills learned in prior water/wastewater operator courses. \
- Integrate and apply mathematical, scientific, cultural, ethical, computer, and communication skills learned in academic courses.
- Use computer based word-processing, spreadsheet, drawing, mathematical, and discipline-related software.
- Develop, implement, analyze and complete a project in a team environment.
- Identify and resolve potential conflicts which otherwise would decrease effectiveness in a team environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to function as an active and effective team member.
