Program Description:
The purpose of the Avionics Maintenance Technology program is to prepare students for employment as Avionics Line Technicians, Avionics Installation Technicians, or Avionics Repair Technicians. Using Federal Communication Commission and Federal Aviation Regulation approved classroom instruction, and practical line/lab experience students are taught to remove, install, repair, and troubleshoot Aircraft Avionics systems, subsystems and components. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Federal Communication Commission licensure examinations, Elements 1, 3, and 8 [Radar endorsement].
Program Outcomes:
- To introduce new students to the career opportunities of Avionics Maintenance.
- To emphasize safety while working at Aircraft Flight Line, Aircraft Hangar, and Repair facilities.
- To instruct students in the theory and knowledge needed to be successful in the Avionics program.
- To introduce and train students on the equipment and tools that is required in the Avionics Maintenance field.
- To ensure that every student understands the work ethics and responsibilities in the Avionics Maintenance field.
- To ensure that every student receives relevant industry skill required for employment.
- To assist graduates in locating and successful placement into the Avionics Maintenance field.
