Program Description:
The Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Technology program is designed to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the best practices and skills used in the management, marketing and operations of retail stores, food services, lodging, attractions, recreation events and travel-related services. Through class study, problem-based learning, work-based activities, guest lecturers, portfolio building and actual “hands-on” performance tasks the student will develop the professional and technical skills applicable to retail management, hospitality supervisory fundamentals, customer service essentials, and information & communication technologies.
Program Outcomes:
At the completion of the diploma in Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Technology, graduates will be able to:
- Perform operations associated with sales in a variety of settings
- Apply the concepts and skills necessary to achieve customer/guest satisfaction
- Maintain security and safety procedures
- Practice effective marketing, sales, and business promotion techniques
- Demonstrate the ability to use the computer and information services for business-related activities
- Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner, and practice industry-defined work ethics
- Demonstrate ability to perform basic and supervisory level job functions in retail, hospitality and tourism careers
